Seasoned civil servant having served from 1988 to present in both national and international civil service. Current Chairman of the Eastern Africa Association for Radiation Protection. I hold a PhD in Radiation Physics, an MSc in Nuclear Science and a BSc in Physics. Serving now as the Chief Analyst at the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI). Previously I was Secretary (Nuclear) in the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum where I was seconded to the Nuclear Electricity Project (2011-2013). Prior I served as the Chief Science Secretary at the National Council for Science and Technology (2007-2011) and was a Nuclear Safeguards Inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna Austria (1999-2006). Between 1988-1998 I was Senior Radiation Protection Officer at the Radiation Protection Board from 1988. My impressive portfolio of awards, includes Nobel Prize for peace for the year 2005 as IAEA SG staff shared with the IAEA Director General Dr. M. Albaradei, and the Kenya National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation award in 2013 in recognition for research contributions on both national and international levels to the R&D in Radiation Protection Dosimetry. In 2014 my paper titled “Challenges and opportunities as Kenya grapples with how to introduce a nuclear regulator “published in ESI Africa’s Power Journal, formed part of the discussion in the August 2015 Eastern Africa Power Industry Convention. From 2016 I was appointed the Regional Networking of African National Nuclear Institutions (RENANNI) National Coordinator. Chair of the Technical Committee, from 2017, on Radiometry, Dosimetry and Non Destructive Testing at Kenya Bureau of Standards. Alternate to the Chief Administration Secretary/Principal Secretary of Ministry of Education on the Board of Kenya Space Agency from 2018. Representing the Director General of NACOSTI on Radiation Protection Board from 2019.
